Access to UNCP's wireless network is provided for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.


Student, Faculty and Staff Access

UNCP has two wireless networks (BraveWiFi and ResidentialWiFi) for students, faculty and staff.  BraveWiFi is available throughout campus except inside University Housing residence halls, and ResidentialWiFi is available only in residence halls.

When connecting to wireless on campus, select BraveWiFi. Select ResidentialWiFi in residence halls.  After selecting the appropriate wireless network, click Connect. 

What is the difference? 

  • BraveWiFi only requires authentication every 180 days for a device. 

  • ResidentialWiFi also requires that computers with Windows or Mac operating systems have the SafeConnect policy key, an up-to-date antivirus both installed and running, and current operating system patches (see instructions for installing the SafeConnect policy key at ResNet and system requirements).   Mobile devices only require authentication.  Once system requirements have been met for a particular device, authentication is usually effective for 180 days.

Once authenticated to a network, that device will meet the authentication requirements on either network. 


Guest Access

Visitors to the UNCP campus may automatically register and receive login credentials via text message and connect their personal devices to the uncpguest wireless network.  The guest network will be available anywhere wireless access exists on campus including academic, administrative, and residential buildings.  Guest accounts will have a duration of 15 hours and can be automatically renewed as needed.
