Campus Recreation believes that physical activity and healthy life choices are vital to a person’s total well-being. Based upon this belief, a broad and diversified program of recreational activities are provided for the campus community.
Students at UNC Pembroke have the opportunity to participate in Intramurals, Club Sports, Adventureships, and can make use of the Campbell Wellness Center and the Aquatics Center.
I chose to attend UNC Pembroke because when I visited, I saw that it was the focal point of the community and how much the campus contributed to the community. I was also recruited here to run track, which I did during my freshman year.
The characteristic of UNC Pembroke I enjoy the most is the ability to interact with administrators and professors on both an educational and personal level ultimately focused on the growth and development of the student.
Campus Recreation gave me the opportunity to create a competitive Track and Field Club! I’ve acquired so many skills like organizational budgeting, conflict resolution, sports leadership and a plethora of other transferable skills. Campus Recreation has played a very important role by providing internships that paved the way for my future goals.
There are so many things I love about Campus Recreation and too many to name. I would say that my two absolute favorite things about Campus Rec are that you can express yourself by creating a club and being surrounding by likeminded people. Additionally, by creating that club, you can develop skills that can’t be taught and will set you apart from other students when entering the workforce.
I chose to attend UNCP because of the nurturing and welcoming environment this campus provides. I had a multitude of questions for admissions and the faculty and staff on campus as a first-generation college student. UNCP answered all my questions with patience. The kindness of the individuals on campus is what ultimately lead me to choose UNCP.
I love all the greenery on campus, but my favorite part about UNCP is how the faculty and staff here care about the students here. The diversity and ability to communicate across various ethnicities is a beautiful thing to see here.
Campus Recreation impacts my future goals because I was provided an outlet to pursue a passion for teaching yoga. I was given the opportunity to practice leadership skills, communication skills, and being flexible with various groups of people. When I graduate from UNCP and ultimately leave Campus Recreation my experience with Campus Recreation will be something I always carry with me when teaching yoga at other places.
I appreciate that Campus Recreation provides various forms of physical outlets for students. The recreation classes, the gym, and the intramural sports that Campus Recreation provides students with allows students to pursue their interests and “blow off steam”.
I love taking and teaching yoga classes! I also enjoy learning about various kinds of philosophy, reading books (fiction the most), going to art museums, although I barely understand art (I like to find the pieces that speak to a layman like me), and spending quality time with loved ones.
