Accreditation and Licensure
All educator preparation licensure programs are accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the North Carolina State Board of Education. The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction issues licenses to teach in the public schools of North Carolina as teachers, school counselors, and administrators. The Professional School Counseling Program is also accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). Requirements for licensure are established by the NC State Board of Education and are subject to change. Accreditation provides for reciprocal licensure with other states that recognize interstate reciprocity agreements.
