Arriving in the U.S. / Transportation to Pembroke
Reservation for Airport Pick-up from Raleigh Durham International Airport (RDU) to campus is available! Please plan to meet the shuttle at Terminal 2 at 5 PM on January 4, 2023, the shuttle will leave at 6pm.
- A UNCP staff member will meet you at the baggage claim area, by the information booth, between 5-6pm. (If you arrive earlier in the day, there is a cafe upstairs that you can visit while you wait. You may choose to take an Uber, Lyft or Taxi, keep in mind campus is about 2 hours from RDU and transportation rates can be high.)
- After departure from Airport, we will arrive at Crabtree Valley Mall for Dinner in the Food Court - Check out the options for dining here.
Reservations are required. Fill out this form in order to your reservations.
You are encouraged to either arrive prior to 5 PM or arrive the day before and stay at a local hotel. Many hotels offer shuttle service to and from RDU.

Orientation
Freshmen, Transfer and Exchange Students
OGE will host an international student orientation that will focus on immigration requirements, student health forms and immunizations, campus safety, registering for classes and other sessions that will help you get acclimated to UNCP.
This orientation is mandatory!

Orientation Fee- $60
Your payment will be due during International Student Orientation.*Certain Exchange students are exempt from paying this fee or it is part of your program agreement. Speak to your host program or the UNCP Study Abroad Coordinator if you have questions.
Graduate Students
You will have two separate orientations. One will be with OGE on August 11th and 12th, and one will be with the Graduate School at a later date, click here to find out more.

Access to Email and Braveweb
Your access information will arrive along with your acceptance packet. It is a good idea to set up your account before you arrive on campus.
Once your BraveWeb account is set up you will be able to access your student account, which will allow you to make payments toward bills, view bills, etc.
The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) is committed to providing you with support and services to ensure your successful use of technology. Our goal is to anticipate needs and be proactive in our development and delivery of services and support options. Pre Order Service Option: Personal Online Shopping
This service is available for any student that wishes to order items from their personal online accounts (Amazon, eBay, AliExpress etc.) and ship it to the university before they arrive in the U.S. This eliminates the hassle of buying larger items and having to transport it via plane and/or wait on buying everything day of arrival in Pembroke.
If you request this service, OGE (oge@uncp.edu) will have everything will have everything waiting for you when you arrive.

Cell Phone Plans
If you are interested in signing up for a cell phone plan upon arrival, we have various options listed below. If you plan to use an international plan with your countries provider, we recommend discussing the use and accessibility of your plan with your phone carrier before you leave that country.

OGE will assist you with the process of getting your UNCP ID Card during International Student Orientation.

Health Insurance
Health Insurance is required .
UNCP participates in a UNC system-wide insurance plan administered by Student Blue (Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina). After you are registered for courses, enroll early to get your ID Card if you opt to choose Student Blue as your provider!
Enroll/Waive
To Enroll:
- Visit the Student Blue website at www.bcbsnc.com/uncp.
- Click on Enroll in the menu at the top of the page.
- Follow the instructions.
You will not pay for the cost of insurance coverage when you enroll. The cost will be added to your student account and you will make payment for the insurance at the UNCP Bursar's Office once you are on campus.

To Waive:
- Visit the Student Blue website at www.bcbsnc.com/uncp.
- Click on Waive in the menu at the top of the page.
- Follow the instructions.

Health Forms and Immunizations
Health forms and immunizations are required for every UNCP student.
It may be easier to have your doctor in your home country fill this out before you come to UNCP.
For more information about UNCP's health requirements visit the webpage for Student Health Services.
Required immunizations to attend UNCP include:
A. Proof of three doses of Tetanus-diphtheria vaccine. One of these doses or a Tdap must be within 10 years of your registration date.
B. Proof of two MMR vaccinations or Proof of 2 Mumps vaccination, Proof of 2 Rubeola (measles) vaccinations, and Proof of 1 Rubella vaccination.
C. If you are under 18 years of age, proof of polio series.
D. Proof of three doses of Hepatitis B vaccine is required if born after July 1, 1994
E. Proof of one varicella vaccine is required if born on or after April 1, 2001.
The record of these immunizations must be signed by a health care professional or have the stamp of a clinic or health department.
All International Students are also required to take a PPD (TB Skin Test) after arriving on campus. These are offered at Student Health Services and will given during your orientation.
*For students under the age of 18, please have your guardian sign the bottom of the student health history form; this will allow you to get treatment provided by UNCP.

Housing
International Student Assignments: North Hall is a six-story traditional style community, offering a perfect view of the bridge and Lowry Bell Tower and spacious double rooms with a community bathroom. They are co-ed communities, separating gender by floors.
Athletes may be assigned to another building with respective team.
Applying for On-Campus Housing - Applications for Spring 2023 open now!
If you plan to stay on campus, fill out the housing application on Braveweb as soon as possible. Follow this link for instructions.
- You must set up your Braveweb account before you can fill out the application. Some international students are not able to do this before they arrive. If this is a problem for you, do not worry. We can help you during orientation.
- If you are unable to access the application before arriving, contact Office of Global Engagement to make your room reservation.
Housing will confirm that they have received your application and they will notify you of your living arrangements.
Freshmen are required to stay on campus for their initial academic year.
Information on Housing rates can be found on the Housing website. It also includes floor plans, a list of amenities, and suggestions for what to bring.

Meal Plans
Once your BraveWeb account is set up, you can purchase your meal plan through Brave Web. You can make changes to your plan once you are here on campus at the Cashier’s Office. Meal plan changes must be made by the end of the first week of classes each semester.
Students that reside in the residence halls are required to purchase a meal plan. The 12 meal plan is automatically assigned.
