Notification of Required Testing Protocol & Vaccination Incentives

Ongoing surveillance testing: Beginning August 23, all residential students will be required to participate in bi-weekly (every other week) COVID-19 surveillance testing on campus. Students who fail to participate in the bi-weekly COVID-19 surveillance testing may be subject to the student conduct process, loss of on-campus housing privileges or both.

Note: Students who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 have the option to OPT-OUT of the testing requirement by providing proof of vaccination status through the student patient portal. All students who provide proof of full vaccination status through the Student Health Services Patient Portal will be exempt from any required surveillance testing.

If you have ANY symptoms related to COVID-19 on the day you are scheduled for a surveillance test, you should not go for testing. Instead, contact UNCP Student Health Services at 910.521.6219 for guidance and evaluation.

Surveillance testing on campus is free for all students. The testing process is fast and convenient, making it easy to incorporate into a bi-weekly (every two weeks) routine.

Follow these easy steps for the surveillance testing process:

Step 1: Selected surveillance program participants will receive a notification with details to conduct a test on specific days.

Step 2: On the day of the test, participants should visit one of the campus collection locations. Students can go online to their Student Health Services Patient Portal to schedule a Residential COVID-19 Test appointment. Walk-in appointments are accepted as well.

Step 3: Participants should arrive at the test site with their UNCP ID, phone and insurance card.

Special considerations: A negative test does not mean you will remain negative at any time point after that test. If presumptive positive, a confirmation swab (viral PCR test) may be collected.

Surveillance Testing Locations and Hours (Begins August 23):

  • Pine Hall Multipurpose Room (Pine Hall and Oak Hall residents): Monday, Tuesday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., 1-4 p.m.
  • Cypress Multipurpose Room (Cypress Hall and Village Apartment residents): Thursday, Friday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., 1-4 p.m.
  • Courtyard Community Building (Courtyard Apartment residents): Wednesday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., 1-4 p.m., Sunday, 6-8 p.m.

Campus incentives are available to all students who are vaccinated and choose to get vaccinated this semester. Every currently enrolled vaccinated student will get up to $100!

Currently enrolled students who have uploaded proof of full vaccination will receive a $100 Visa gift card and free t-shirt.

Currently enrolled students who have not yet been vaccinated can receive a $50 Visa gift card for each shot they receive on campus and a free t-shirt for a total of $100 when fully vaccinated!

In addition, all students who have completed the vaccine survey and uploaded their proof of vaccination will be entered into a drawing for one of our grand prizes available to include:

  • 5-Grand Prizes $500 Visa Gift Cards
  • 100-$100 Braves Dollars (loaded to their Brave Card)
  • 20-New laptop computers

IMPORTANT: Campus COVID Protocol Update

Dear Residential Students:

Given recent updates on COVID-19 protocol and guidance in North Carolina, UNC Pembroke has updated the protocols for our on-campus residence halls and apartments effective August 2, 2021.

Beginning today, masks will be required in all public, indoor, and common area spaces in on-campus residence halls and apartments. In your own assigned room, masks will be optional.

All visitors and guests in all residence halls and apartments must always wear a mask, no matter where they are in each facility.

On your move-in day, please be aware that masks will be required in indoor spaces for all students, family members and anyone assisting you during move-in.

The university will reassess these guidelines on or before September 17 adjusting as needed based on available data and evidence.

Please continue to check our webpage and your Bravemail for updates.
