Spring 2021 Residential Move-In Update - Move-in Day Scheduling

Dear UNCP Residential Student:

It is now time to select a 90-minute block of time for your Spring 2021 move-in day. Please see the instructions below to reserve your day and time.

Please remember the following:

  • All residential students MUST provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 3-5 days prior to moving into your spring housing assignment. You will NOT be allowed to move into your spring housing assignment without this proof. Please see previous emails sent to you for more information.
  • Move-in will take place from January 27-30, 2021. These are the only dates available for residence hall move-in.
  • Given our health and safety protocols, no early arrival move-in dates will be approved, nor will any move-in times be available on January 31. Be aware that if you show up on a date and time outside of your assigned move-in date and time, plan on either going back home or staying in a hotel.
  • Masks are required for everyone on move-in day (students and helpers).
  • Only two (2) helpers per student will be allowed (helpers will have their temperature checked and answer a few medical questions prior to being able to enter any residential facility).
  • Please follow all signage.
  • Please be patient and follow all instructions during your move-in day.

Please plan to show up at the main entrance of your residence hall (community building for Courtyard and Village Apartments) on your scheduled date and time for Housing and Residence Life staff to mark your arrival and to receive final approval to move into your room/apartment.

NOTES:

  • Move-in blocks are 90 minutes each (8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., & 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.).

  • Please make only ONE submission to schedule your move-in time (if you need to cancel or reschedule, just click on the links at the bottom of your confirmation email).
  • You are REQUIRED to come at your scheduled day and time; if you arrive outside of your scheduled time slot, you will not be allowed access to the facility.
  • If you are sick, STAY HOME and contact Housing for an alternate time. If you or the people helping you during move-in have a fever, cough or are experiencing shortness of breath and/or have been in contact with any person within the last two weeks who has a confirmed case of COVID-19, please do not come onto campus at this time.
  • We encourage you to arrive at the beginning of your scheduled time to ensure you have enough time to unload as there WILL BE no volunteers available to assist you this year.
  • Please bring your own face coverings, gloves, sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer.

Yesterday, Chancellor Cummings sent out a message to the campus community announcing a change to the start date for the Spring 2021 semester. Classes will now begin on February 1, 2021.  Given this new start date, residence hall and apartment move-in will now take place January 27-30, 2021.

Given our health and safety protocols, please be aware that no early arrival move-in dates will be approved at this time.

Next week, we will send you an email with information to sign up for your 90-minute block of time to arrive on campus. This email will give you directions on how to sign up for a move-in date and time between January 27-30, 2021. These are the only dates available for residence hall move-in. Only a select number of blocks of time will be available each day. Once a block is filled, it will no longer be available, and you will need to choose another block.

As previously announced, all residential students MUST provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within three to five (3-5) days prior to moving into your spring housing assignment. You will NOT be allowed to move into your spring housing assignment without this proof. Spring 2021 Move-In

Dear UNCP Residential Student:

We look forward to your return or your arrival for the first time as we begin the Spring 2021 semester! As you already know, classes will begin on January 19, 2021. Given this start date, along with safety and health protocols we are putting in place during the move-in process, will change how you will be moving into your residence hall this spring.

We are planning a safe, coordinated, and organized residence hall move-in process. While this process is different than what our returning students have experienced in the past, we planned this process with the first thought being safety for everyone.

Please read this message thoroughly, including the requirements that you must complete prior to moving in, that are listed below.

Each student will sign up for a 90-minute block of time to arrive on campus. In early January, you will receive an email with a link to sign up for a move-in date and time between January 13-16, 2021. These are the only dates available for residence hall move move-in. Only a select number of blocks of time will be available each day. Once a block is filled, it will no longer be available and you will need to choose another block.

Given our health and safety protocols, no early arrival move-in dates will be approved, nor will any move-in times be available on January 17 and 18. Be aware that if you show up on a date and time outside your assigned move-in date and time, please plan on either going back home or staying in a hotel.

When you arrive at your residence hall on your scheduled date and time, please be aware of the following measures that will be in place to minimize the risk of virus transmission:

  • You MUST provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 3-5 days prior to moving into your spring housing assignment. You will NOT be allowed to move into your spring housing assignment without this proof.  Please see the TESTING section of the ‘Healthy Braves, Safe Campus: Navigating COVID-19, Spring 2021’ for more information.
  • Masks will be REQUIRED (please arrive already wearing your mask before stepping out of your vehicle);).
  • Only two (2) helpers per student will be allowed (helpers will have their temperature checked and answer a few medical questions prior to being able to enter any residential facility);
  • Only one (1) vehicle per student;.
  • NO volunteers will be present to assist moving in belongings (you will need to move your own belongings);
  • One-way flow of traffic into and out of each residence hall (there will be only one entrance and one exit per building);
  • Stairwells will be one way (buildings will have an “up” stairwell and “down” stairwell);
  • Elevators will only be used to go up (you will need to walk back down); and
  • Please consider limiting, as best able, the number of belongings you bring to campus.

Please remember, the link to sign up for a move move-in date and time will be sent to you in early January, and all residential students MUST show proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken 3-5 days prior to your move-in date.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on campus soon!

New Protocols in Residence Halls/Apartments

Dear Residential Students:

We have made some changes in our residence hall/apartment policies that go into effect immediately. The below changes have been made with your safety in mind. As well, please remember, mask wearing is mandatory in all public and common areas in our residence halls/apartments.

  • Visitation is no longer allowed in any residential facility. You will only be allowed in your own residence hall/apartment.
  • From midnight-6 a.m. each day the only entrance available for use will be the front entrance of your residence hall.

As we strive to make our residential facilities safe for you, we ask that you continue to wear your mask, wash your hands, and remain 6 feet away from other individuals.

Please be safe for yourself and your community.

Thank you.
