Pembroke Bound Checklist

Please review and complete the items below:

College Credit:

If you received college credit, please send an official transcript from the college prior to completing the online orientation. Please note that your high school transcript is not enough to grant college credit. Additionally, if you have taken any AP, CLEP or IB test, please submit your official test scores to Undergraduate Admissions for evaluation. For information concerning college credit, please contact the Admissions office at 910.521.6262 or the Center for Student Success at 910.521.6625.

In-State Residency:

If you are a new student and you have not yet applied for in-state residency through the state required Residency Determination Service electronic interview ncresidency.org, please do so as soon as possible. This application will help to ensure that you receive the correct billing charges from The University. Upon completion, students will receive a Residency Certification Number (RCN). This unique identifier will allow all UNC System campuses to access your residency status. Please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 910.521.6262 with any questions.

Once your residency application has been reviewed, you will receive an email (and text if you opt-in) from the Residency
Determination Service (RDS) regarding the determination (in-state or out-of-state) or the status, i.e., need more information
from you. If you receive an out-of-state determination and you do not agree with it, you may request a reconsideration
of your residency decision from RDS up to three times within a 90-day period. For more information call toll-free 844.319.3640.

It is the student’s responsibility to have the above completed by or before the tenth day of class for a fall/spring start or the
third day of class for a summer term (excluding MayMester) start for an in-state determination, if applicable, to be effective in the current term.

Mail Services:

Mail Services offers a variety of services such as mail and package delivery, stamp sales, and parcel shipping and receiving. It is also an official Passport Acceptance Facility. The fee for mail services is $25.00 per year and is non-refundable. This service is now available to ANY student enrolled at UNCP. All students who wish to send and receive mail here at UNCP should note that sharing mailboxes is not allowed due to security and privacy concerns.

Student Rights and Responsibilities Overview (Student Code of Conduct):

All students are expected to conduct themselves in a responsible and accountable manner at all times. The Student Code of Conduct outlines prohibited conduct and assists students in understanding their rights and responsibilities while living and learning in the university community. The Student Code of Conduct can be located online at www.uncp.edu/handbook. Please review the Student Code of Conduct as it applies to all students including online and distance education.

Accessibility Resource Center (ARC):

Students who have a disability and are requesting accommodations while attending New Student Orientation should contact the Accessibility Resource Center (ARC) at 910.521.6695. Requests for accommodations should be made at least one week prior to the session date. However, a good faith effort will be made with notification less than one week to the session date.

UNCP Email Account:

Every UNC Pembroke student is assigned a Bravemail email account. All official communication (including billing and financial aid) is sent to the student’s Bravemail account. It is important that you check this account regularly for important information. To access your email, go to www.uncp.edu and click on the QUICKLINKS tab. The BRAVEMAIL link located under Account Logins will take you to the login page for your email account. Use your BraveWeb username and password to log in to Bravemail.

Alcohol EDU for College & Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduate Requirement:

As part of our commitment to overall campus wellness, AlcoholEdu for College and Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates are comprehensive prevention programs that all newly enrolled students must complete. Having new students complete AlcoholEdu for College and Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates is how UNCP meets federal requirements for quality education (i.e., Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Community Act, Title IV from the U.S. Department of Education and Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act PL 103-322). These prevention programs help ensure that all students on and off campus are given resources to enhance their lives—whether fostering personal life skills or helping students understand how they might help friends, family members, or peers.

AlcoholEdu for College and Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates are online learning modules hosted through Everfi. These learning modules are non-opinionated, science-based alcohol abuse and sexual assault prevention courses.

You will receive an email at the beginning of the semester from our Everfi Coordinator, Kathryn Kelly. The email will announce that you may begin AlcoholEdu for College and Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates. The courses have two sections, both of which must be completed to fulfill this requirement and register for future classes at UNCP. Deadlines for completion will be included in the email from the Everfi Coordinator.

AlcoholEdu for College and Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates both take approximately 2-3 hours to complete, and we recommend that you take the courses in multiple sittings. A grade of 70 or higher is required for successful completion of AlcoholEdu for College; if you do not receive at least a 70, you may return to the course and complete a retest. Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates does not require a passing score, but completion of all course modules is required.

Information regarding our online campus wellness programs (AlcoholEdu for College and Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates), contact Kathryn Kelly at Counseling and Psychological Services at 910.521.6202 or by email at Kathryn.Kelly@uncp.edu.
