Future Braves,
Congratulations on being accepted to UNC Pembroke. Due to the on-going concerns regarding COVID-19, UNC Pembroke and New Student Programs has decided to move all New Student Orientation (NSO) sessions for summer 2020 to a hybrid virtual experience. You will not be attending an orientation on campus. We have recently updated the orientation process to make it easier on you. All students will gain access to online orientation this afternoon. We will run reports every Monday and start the process to get you connected to your advisor.
As you prepare to start class, please follow the steps below.
Step 1: Register for an orientation date and complete online orientation modules. While orientation is online this summer, all students must still sign-up for an orientation date to gain access to the online modules. You can access the orientation registration link through your BraveWeb account. Once you register for orientation you will have access to the online modules.
Step 2: Participate in enrollment meeting with your academic advisor. Please check your BraveMail periodically. Within one week of completing your online modules, you will receive an email from an academic advisor in the University College to sign-up for a 30 min enrollment meeting. During this meeting, you will be able to review your pre-assigned course schedule and ask questions concerning your enrollment. You will have the ability to make adjustments in consultation with your academic advisor.
Step 3: Attend virtual orientation small group meeting. You now have the ability to sign-up for your required orientation small group meeting with an Orientation Leader. This meeting will be virtual and details on how to access the video conference system will be provided once you sign-up for your meeting.
Step 4: Attend Welcome Week. Lastly, you will continue your orientation experience during Welcome Week. A detailed schedule including move-in instructions will be released mid-July to your BraveMail.
For any questions concerning your orientation experience please do not hesitate to contact New Student Programs at 910.521.6243/910.521.6662 or by email at orientation@uncp.edu.
Welcome to the UNCP Family!
Go Braves!

Step 1: Getting Started
Please note: All reservations are made under the student’s name and student ID Banner number. Prior to registering it is very important to check your dates! Many students register for orientation without considering important dates like graduation rehearsals and vacations.
All newly admitted freshmen pay their required non-refundable enrollment deposit as soon as they know UNCP is where they wish to attend. This deposit does several things for you: first, if you are living on campus, this serves as your housing application fee (you must still complete your application for student housing); second, it reserves your place in the class; and third, it covers the cost of your orientation fee. For questions regarding the enrollment deposit, please contact Brave Central at newstudents@uncp.edu.
• FRESHMEN living on campus will pay $300.
• FRESHMEN are required to live on campus. While living on campus is a requirement and privilege, requests may be granted for an exception to the residency requirement. You can apply for an exception by completing the Freshman Housing Waiver Application (uncp.edu/housing). If approved, you will pay $150.Freshmen admitted for the summer/fall 2020 semester(s) should register for New Student Orientation by May 1, 2020. Students admitted after May 1, 2020 should register within two weeks of acceptance.
Web reservations are the most expedient way to make your reservation. Online reservations are processed immediately and you will receive an email confirmation at the time you make the reservation. If you have not yet paid your required non-refundable enrollment deposit, you can do so by visiting your Bridge2Brave portal. You can pay by using MasterCard or Visa. Once this fee is paid, you have declared your intent to attend UNCP. If you are unable to pay the enrollment deposit, there is an option to defer your payment to your fall tuition bill on the payment page in Bridge2Brave.
Should you have questions, please contact Brave Central at 910.775.4620 or email at newstudents@uncp.edu.

Step 3: Complete Medical Form
Student Health Services Requires 3 Steps for compliance with part of your University Requirements.
Step 1: Health Form
Step 2: Immunizations
Step 3: Insurance Waiver or Enrollment (this can be completed once you have registered for classes)
Step 1 and Step 2:
Please Submit online your immunizations and health form prior to Orientation. All these documents must be completed online at our Student Health Patient Portal. The link is below uncp.medicatconnect.com.
North Carolina Law requires all students enrolling in five (5) or more semester hours to submit a copy of their immunization records to their respective institutions.
Step 3:
Be Advised: Registered students taking six (6) or more credit hours are required to purchase the Student Health Insurance Plan. Waiver deadlines vary each semester. If you do not complete the waiver procedure, you will be enrolled in the student insurance and be required to pay the premium associated with the insurance policy.
Exceptions:

- Students who submit evidence of equivalent coverage satisfactory to the policyholder
Visit uncp.edu/insurancewaiver/ to waive out of the University Sponsored Plan.

UNC Pembroke’s Federal school code is 002954. All students should complete the FAFSA prior to attending orientation. For questions about financial aid please visit www.uncp.edu/fa or call 910.521.6255.
-
Step 5: Complete Housing Application, if applicable

For more information on the Housing Application or the Freshmen Housing Waiver Application Form, please visit uncp.edu/housing. All students should pay their $300 enrollment deposit prior to filling out the Housing Application. If you are applying for a housing waiver, you will be notified of your approval status.
