Course Evaluations FAQ

Q: What do I do if I cannot access my evaluation?

A: You should already have MyCourseEval on your course Canvas.  If you do not see MyCoursEval, please refer to the PDF instruction provided above.

Q: How many reminders will I receive?

A: You will receive an announcement before the survey opens for you to verify all the courses subject to evaluation for the term.  We send reminders every three days during the course evaluation period until the survey closes.

Q: When can I view or download the evaluation results?

A: After the final grades are posted and locked for each Spring, Summer, and Fall term.

Q: Why do I see two surveys for the same course?

A: You will see two surveys for each graduate course because both SEI and GCA are administered for all graduate courses.

Q: What are SEI and GAC and what are the differences?

A: SEI is student evaluation of instruction and GCA is graduate course analysis. SEI is administered to both undergraduate and graduate courses.  GCA is administered to graduate courses only.  SEI is a part of instructor performance evaluation while GCA is not.

Q: Why some courses are missing from the survey reports?

A: Some courses are excluded from evaluations based on the policy.  Courses with zero responses are excluded from survey reports.

Q: Who is eligible to complete the SEI and GCA?

A:  All students who are enrolled and registered for the course at the time of course evaluation database is updated for the term regardless of their grades or any current academic disciplinary actions taken against the student, which is usually three to four weeks before the end of the term depending on the type of courses.

Q: How courses with multiple instructors are evaluated?

A: The course will be evaluated once by students and each instructor will receive an identical evaluation for the course.

Q: How are cross-listed courses evaluated?

A: Cross-listed courses are evaluated individually.

Q: Can I see which student has completed the survey?

A: No, the course evaluation is completely anonymous.
