Faculty Guidelines for Proctored Exams

Accommodations

Exams will be administered exactly as directed on the instructor/student contract signed by the student and the professor at the beginning of each semester.  Specifications of exams are found on the accommodation letter from ARC.

Proctoring Hours

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Monday through Friday

With the exception of evening classes, students should take an exam the SAME TIME the class regularly meets unless the professor provides permission for an alternate time. ARC is authorized to proctor the exam only during the time specified by the professor on the exam proctoring form.

Exams must be started early enough to be completed by 5:00 p.m.

Exams for night classes will be at the discretion of the professor as

follows:

  • Earlier the same day of the exam
  • The day following the exam

Trained personnel under the direction of the Director of Accessibility Resource Center will proctor exams. Most exams will be administered in the ARC Testing Lab or an area specified by the instructor.

Transport of Exams

The only people allowed to transport exams are:

  • Instructors
  • Student is allowed ONLY when directed by professor 
  • Department employees
  • Accessibility Resource Center employees
  • Graduate Assistants

Accessibility Resource Center will not be responsible for any exams delivered to, or returned by ARC, via campus mail.

Delivery of Exams to ARC

Instructors may arrange to have the exam sent to ARC by:

  • Delivering the exam to ARC
  • Emailing the exam as an attachment to: arc@uncp.edu
  • Faxing the exam to the ARC office at (910) 521-6891
  • Having the student pick up the exam in a sealed and signed envelope prior to testing.

Exams, in sealed envelopes, should be delivered to the Accessibility Resource Center at least 24-hours prior to expected exam administration. Envelopes must be labeled with:

  • The student’s name
  • The instructor’s name
  • Name of the class
  • Phone number of instructor’s office

Pick-up of Tests

Tests will be available for pick-up by departments immediately after the test has been taken.

Professors  should specify the date and time the exam will be picked up at ARC.
