MANDATORY TRAINING:
-
Cybersecurity Awareness
Description:
Cybersecurity awareness training is an essential part of working safely in today’s connected environment. 82% of all breaches involve a human element such as social engineering, phishing attacks, stolen credentials, and human error. Each UNCP employee has the responsibility to remain abreast of the latest threats and tactics to protect UNCP from disruption by cyber threat actors. In addition, both the UNC Board of Governors’ Policy 1400.1 on Information Technology Governance and UNCP’s IT Security Framework, ISO 27002, dictate mandatory IT Security Training and Awareness on a routine basis.
This year’s cybersecurity awareness program includes one 45-minute training module. The sole intent for this module is to raise awareness and increase the level of preparedness for cybersecurity threats across the organization.
2023 Kevin Mitnick Security Awareness Training – 45 Minutes
This module will provide the important information you need to identify common tactics that hackers use against you in their attempts to gain access to UNCP’s valuable resources. You’ll learn the early warning signs of a hacker’s attack and the actions you should take to protect yourself and your organization. (Kevin Mitnick is an American computer security consultant, author, and convicted hacker. He is best known for his high-profile 1995 arrest and five years in prison for various computer and communications-related crimes. He has been called “the most notorious hacker of all time”. Kevin is now the trusted security consultant to the Fortune 500 and governments globally.)

Title IX
Campus safety is an important responsibility of many offices and departments of UNC Pembroke; the Office of Title IX and Clery Compliance is one of them. Helping the campus community to know and understand Clery crimes and offenses and how and to whom to report is an essential function of the Title IX/Clery office. And no student, faculty member, or staff member should experience sexual discrimination, sex-based harassment, or sexual violence. But sometimes, they do. Every employee should be able to identify sexual misconduct and know how to report it to the Office of Title IX and Clery Compliance. We provide a safe place for members of our campus community to talk about what has happened and receive support.
