About

Dr. Ashraf is a professor of economics in the Department of Economics and Decision Sciences. He earned his BS (1994), MA (1996), and Ph.D. (1998) degrees from Northern Illinois University. Along with teaching graduate and undergraduate economics and statistics courses, he has been involved in scholarly research. He was the recipient of the 2003-2004 UNCP Dial Scholarship Award and the 2005 Peter B. Vaill Faculty Award.

Dr. Ashraf’s research interests include growth models, economic development, labor economics, and economic pedagogy. His research articles have been published in numerous scholarly journals including Contemporary Economics Policy, Journal of Economics, Annals of Economics and Finance, Applied Economics Letters, and Journal of Education for Business. He has presented papers at academic conferences in the United States, Canada, Russia, and Europe.
