Originally from Nashville, Joseph Begnaud received a BFA from the University of Dayton in 1996 and an MFA in Painting from Indiana University at Bloomington in 1998. In the following fourteen years, Joseph worked and held studios in New York, St. Louis, and Portland, Maine before returning to the South to teach painting at UNCP in 2012.
- paintings and drawings have been exhibited widely in museums and galleries across the United States. In 2010, Begnaud completed a solo exhibition of large scale drawings in Warsaw, Poland, followed by a traveling exhibition of paintings in venues in the Mazovian Region of Poland in 2012. In 2013, he was awarded “Best of Show” in the 2013 Art Fields Portrait Contest. In 2015, he was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award at UNCP. His current studio is in Laurinburg, NC.
