Angela Jones, of Lumberton, earned an undergraduate degree in criminal justice and a graduate degree in professional school counseling, both from UNCP. 

In the spring of 1988, she joined Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority as a charter member of Omicron Lambda. She has remained an active member with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and Omicron Lambda at UNCP for 32 years.

While at then-Pembroke State University, Jones worked for three years as a residence counselor with the Gifted and Talented program under the direction of Dr. Sylvester Wooten. 

Jones worked in the mental health field for 26 years and is currently serving as the Human Resources director for Robeson County.

She lives by the motto, “If I can help someone along my way, my living will not be in vain.”
