Phillip Hicks Helps Lead UNCP’s First Cybersecurity Graduates

When Phillip Hicks arrived at UNC Pembroke as a freshman, the university’s cybersecurity program was still in its trial phase. This May, the Red Springs native will help make history as one of the first graduates of UNCP’s standalone Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity program.

In-Person Classes Canceled After 11 A.M.; UNCP Moving to Condition 1

UNCP will move to Condition 1 (Reduced Operations) today, Monday, March 16, beginning at 11 a.m. All in-person classes scheduled after 11 a.m. are canceled due to the heightened possibility of significant rain, high winds and tornadoes across portions of North Carolina this afternoon.

UNC Pembroke Names Kaye Patel Fraley General Counsel and Vice Chancellor

Kaye Patel Fraley has been appointed general counsel and vice chancellor for legal, audit, risk and compliance at UNC Pembroke. Fraley has served as interim general counsel since September 2025. She joined UNC Pembroke in 2018 and has held several leadership roles within the university’s legal and compliance operations, including assistant general counsel, campus investigator, interim director of Title IX and Clery compliance, and Associate General Counsel and Clery Compliance Coordinator.
