A pre-law student at UNC Pembroke, Allison Jones dreamed of attending law school after graduation. However, after attending a U.S. Department of State career showcase on campus, Jones is considering the diplomatic workforce and embarking on a career as a security service leader.

UNCP animal science professor attends Biltmore Estate Fall Field Day

Dr. Nicolas “Nico” Negrin Pereira, assistant professor of biology at UNC Pembroke, attended the Angus Cattle and Dorper Sheep Sale and Field Day at Biltmore Estate on September 30. The event––hosted by the Angus Cattle Breeders Society of North Carolina–– featured several speakers and information about cattle and sheep production. There was also an auction of yearling bulls, elite females and pairs and white dorper sheep.

Matthew Miles didn’t know what to expect like most first-time parents. His wife, Tiara, didn’t experience significant issues during her pregnancy. But that quickly changed during an unexpected cesarean delivery. “Some parts of the delivery were terrifying,” Miles said. “It was really scary at times.”
