Online Student Orientation

Welcome to UNC Pembroke, and congratulations on your acceptance! Your journey as a Brave begins here. New Student Orientation (NSO) is your first step toward success, and for online and distance education students, it's designed with flexibility in mind. We encourage you to register and complete your orientation modules as soon as possible to secure your place at UNCP and get connected with the tools and support you'll need to thrive.

Steps to Complete Orientation

Online orientation is required for all undergraduate online and distance education students.

New undergraduate online students must register and complete several required online modules.

Within one week of you registering for orientation, you will receive an invitation to a Canvas course with additional information and instructions on how to complete the test. Please make sure to check your BraveMail account regularly.

How to Register:

  1. Log in to The NEST Orientation Portal using your MyUNCP credentials. Follow our Registration Guide
  2. Click on “Reserve your Orientation Session” button.
  3. Follow the instructions and register for your orientation session.
  4. Please make sure you submit your registration.

Please note: You can only change your orientation date once (if the session you want to move into is open). To change your date, please email orientation@uncp.edu.

NOTE: If you have completed additional coursework since your acceptance to UNCP, you must have your most recent transcript sent to the UNCP Office of Admissions. You must have this process completed before your orientation to ensure proper advisement and registration. If you have questions regarding your transcript evaluation before Orientation, please contact the Office of Admissions at 910.521.6262.

All reservations are made under the student's name and student ID Banner number.

Orientation Fee Specifics:

  • $100 Orientation Fee will be billed to the student account for the online orientation session for Online Only TRANSFER Students.

All online students must complete a virtual advising appointment before registering for classes.

Once you register for orientation and complete your required online modules, you will receive an email to your BraveMail account with a link to schedule your virtual advising appointment.

During this appointment, an academic advisor will:

  • Review your academic plan
  • Help you select courses
  • Assist you with registering for classes

Please monitor your BraveMail closely, as this is where all advising and registration instructions will be sent.
