After continued review of weather conditions and regional travel impacts by the Emergency Operations Initial Threat Assessment Committee (ITAC), and in keeping with a cautious, safety-first approach, UNC Pembroke will extend Condition 2 (Suspended Operations) through 8 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27.

This determination reflects updated forecast information and continued assessment of road conditions affecting students, faculty and staff.

Academic and Operational Impacts

  • All classes scheduled for Monday, Jan. 26, are canceled, regardless of delivery method.
  • All campus events and activities scheduled for Monday are canceled.
  • Campus operations for Tuesday, Jan. 27, will be communicated following further assessment.

Condition 2 Overview

In a Condition 2 status, the university remains open on a limited basis and suspends all but mandatory operations due to limited staffing. Employees designated or temporarily assigned as mandatory must report to work or remain at work as directed by their supervisor. All other employees should not report to work. Supervisors are encouraged to use discretion and prioritize safety when addressing employee travel or work-related concerns.

Dining, Facilities and Campus Resources for Residential Students

  • Dining operations for residential students will continue as usual.
  • The Hawks Nest will be open from 1–6 p.m.
  • The Wellness Center will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • The Mary Livermore Library will be open from noon to 8 p.m.

Ongoing Assessment and Next Update

ITAC will convene again on Monday to reassess conditions and determine next steps for Tuesday. An updated campus message will be shared on Monday with information regarding the university’s operational status.

Staying Informed

Please continue to monitor official university communications. Updates will be posted to UNCP.edu, the Brave Alert page, and shared through the university’s official social media channels. In the event of university-level closings or cancellations, Brave Alert text notifications will be deployed.

As we navigate this weather challenge, know that UNCP’s first and foremost consideration is your safety. Whether work-related or not, please take caution and always exercise your best judgment for your safety.
