The A.D. Gallery at UNC Pembroke proudly presents “Echoes of Creation,” the Spring 2026 B.A. Senior Capstone Exhibition, showcasing the work of nine graduating artists.

The exhibit is on display through April 23 in Locklear Hall. A public reception will be held on Wednesday, April 8, from 4 to 6 p.m.

The exhibition features the work of Mia Baca, Ty Bellamy, Soleil Dekker, Illisha Lear, Angelina Martinez, Rachel Mishue, Eric Priest, Sterling Powell and Tyler Skolozynski, offering a dynamic and diverse exploration of creativity, identity and personal expression.

“Echoes of Creation” brings together a wide range of artistic approaches and media, including printmaking, sculpture, painting and digital art. Each artist presents a unique perspective, reflecting individual experiences, influences and interpretations of the world.

Several artists explore connections between the natural and spiritual worlds through printmaking. Priest’s hand-carved woodblock prints draw inspiration from nature and his Christian faith, emphasizing craftsmanship and messages of hope. Skolozynski combines intricate etchings with bold monoprints to examine the relationship between earthly struggles and spiritual reflection.

Painting also plays a central role in the exhibition. Dekker’s wildlife-inspired oil paintings experiment with color and texture, while Mishue’s detailed acrylic works explore surreal, celestial and imaginative themes. Together, their work invites viewers into both natural and fantastical environments.

Mixed media artists Powell, Martinez and Bellamy use a variety of techniques to explore movement, identity and transformation. Powell combines ceramic sculpture and digital animation to create energetic, anime-inspired figures, while Martinez’s digital artwork conveys uplifting themes of hope. Bellamy blends traditional and digital printmaking to reflect personal growth through surreal and expressive imagery.

Ceramic artists Lear and Baca present works rooted in storytelling and observation. Lear’s hand-built sculptures honor her African American heritage, exploring identity and resilience through symbolic forms. Baca’s work, inspired by marine life, features detailed and often surreal pieces that highlight the beauty and mystery of the ocean.

Through experimentation and exploration, the exhibition showcases the breadth of talent in UNCP’s art program, offering audiences a compelling, multifaceted artistic experience.
