Forecasts indicate the potential for winter weather across parts of North Carolina this weekend, Jan. 30-Feb 1. According to the National Weather Service, there is the possibility of a wintry mix of snow and ice across portions of the state.

The university's Emergency Operations Initial Threat Assessment Committee (ITAC) met this afternoon to review the latest forecasts and guidance from National Weather Service offices in Raleigh and Wilmington. At this time, UNCP will operate under normal operations tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 30.

The committee will continue to meet over the next 24 to 48 hours as conditions evolve to assess potential impacts on the campus and the surrounding region. The next campus update will be issued tomorrow, Friday, Jan. 30, unless conditions warrant earlier communication.

Updates will be posted to the UNCP.edu homepage, the BraveAlert page, and shared on the university's official social media channels. In the event of university-level closings or cancellations, BraveAlert text notifications will be deployed.

Safety Reminders

As conditions may vary across North Carolina, please remember to make responsible decisions for your safety. See road condition information on the NCDOT website and take appropriate precautions.
