Ashley Smith

Ashley D. Smith, PhD, LSC, LCMHCA, NCC is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Counseling. Dr. Smith earned her doctorate in Counseling and Counselor Education from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her master's and education specialist degree in School Counseling from UNCG as well. She is a National Certified Counselor, Licensed Professional School Counselor, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate, and an ASCA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Specialist. Dr. Smith's clinical experience spans schools and community agencies, serving individuals across the lifespan. As an advocate for at-promise youth, their families, and surrounding community, she centers her work on equity and education reform. Her research interests are centered in school counseling, supervision, small groups, professional identity, diversity/ equity/inclusion, culturally responsive leadership, and the impact of intersectionality on school counselor systemic advocacy. Dr. Smith is the Chapter Faculty co-Advisor for the Phi Sigma Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota.
