James Lockemy

History 1971
Chief Judge, South Carolina Court of Appeals. U.S. Army veteran. Retired as full colonel of S.C. Army National Guard. Former member of S.C. House of Representatives. Elected as Circuit Court Judge in 1989. Elected as chief judge in 2016. Served as 2017 UNCP commencement speaker.

Davance Locklear
Davance Locklear

History 2000
Commercial pilot, American Airlines. After earning his degree, Davance joined the United States Air Force. Completed 625 combat missions in Iraq and Afghanistan. Awarded six air medals for combat and four Meritorious Service awards.

Allison Harrington
Allison Harrington

Education 1995
UNCP Trustee. President/Founder, Speech Solutions, Inc. She began a private speech language pathology company in her home with six employees in 2003. Today, Speech Solutions has 72 employees serving 11 counties. Recipient of UNCP's 2014 Outstanding Alumnus.  

Jerry Lanier
Jerry Lanier

History 1974
Ret. U.S. Ambassador to Sudan, Uganda. Career diplomat. Served 33 years with the Department of State. Rose to rank of Ambassador. After the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, he served as head of the State Department’s Bureau of Counterterrorism.
