Dr. Tom Ross recently published the third edition of “One Land, Three Peoples: A Geography of Robeson County, North Carolina.”

Tom RossIt is a unique work, Dr. Ross said.

“County histories are common, but county geographies are as rare as hen’s teeth,” he said. “This is a unique county.”

Dr. Zoe W. Locklear was named dean of the School of Education at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, effective November 1, 2005. Dr. Locklear served as interim dean since January.

Mark Schwarze, coordinator of UNC Pembroke’s alcohol program, was named North Carolina’s 2005 Outstanding New Addiction Professional at the Addiction Professionals of North Carolina’s (APNC) fall conference and awards banquet held at Carolina Beach, N.C., on October 26.

Mary McEntee came to UNC Pembroke to help.

An AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer, McEntee works in UNCP’s Office of Student Activities. Since leaving her Rochester, N.Y., home, McEntee has shed a lot of winter clothes, learned to love collards and has become an integral part of the University’s community service programs.
