Pi Day

More than 400 seventh and eighth graders from John Griffin Middle School in Fayetteville, Magnolia and Prospect schools in Robeson County visited The University of North Carolina at Pembroke for the 3rd annual Pi Day.

UNCP volunteers played an interactive numbers game with the students to teach them the numbers in Pi. In between activities, students enjoyed a dance-off and got the crowd to do the “baby shark." The junior high students then presented a Pi Symphony. Susan Hanby (UNCP Math Department) then pulled UNCP volunteers to help teach “Pi Facts” to the students. Students from all three schools played musical chairs. and threw whipped cream “pie” in the faces of UNCP volunteers and staff.
