College of Health Sciences Dean's Advisory Board
The College of Health Sciences (CHS) Dean's Advisory Board serves to increase public awareness, promote the interests, and advance the priorities of the College of Health Sciences as it strives to bring the best in education, research and professional partnership to students and the health care community in Southeastern Region of North Carolina and beyond. Advisory Boards are comprised of industry experts, members of professional organizations related to the academic programs offered at the College, as well as students, alumni, and members of the College community. The Dean's Advisory Board exists to enable the CHS to secure the advocacy and philanthropic support necessary to achieve its vision. Through the Advisory Board, the Dean engages our community as well as the College’s ablest alumni and friends in a genuine partnership dedicated to enhancing the College. Dean’s Advisory Board members will support the CHS with their time, talent and treasure as outlined below:
• Purpose and Responsibilities: The Dean's Advisory Board seeks members who can engage in dialogue with the Dean about the future of the College and provide counsel on key issues confronting the College. The key responsibilities of the Dean's Advisory Board include:
1. Strategic Advice: Offer insights and advice on the overall strategic direction of the College of Health Sciences
2. Program and Curriculum Development: Provide input on new programs, initiatives, and curriculum enhancements to ensure alignment with industry trends and academic standards.
3. Fundraising and Development: Assist in fundraising efforts by leveraging personal and professional networks to support the College of Health Sciences' financial goals.
4. Community Engagement: Foster relationships with external stakeholders, including industry leaders, alumni, and community members, to enhance the College of Health Sciences’ presence and partnerships.
5. Advocacy: Advocate for the College of Health Sciences within the community, promoting its achievements and addressing challenges.
6. Networking: Act as ambassadors for the UNCP, participating in events and activities that enhance its reputation and connections.
7. Advisory Board Meetings: Attend regular meetings to discuss pertinent issues, review progress, and collaborate on strategic initiatives.
• Time: Dean's Advisory Board meets twice each year. Each member is encouraged to attend all meetings. Advisory Board members will be invited to attend and/or participate in all College events and activities. To facilitate members’ schedules, the work of the Advisory Board may employ teleconferencing where appropriate.
