Rita Hagevik, Director of Graduate Programs in Science Education in the UNCP Biology Department, has been elected to a three-year term as a Board Member at Large of the international organization of the Association of Science Teacher Education (see theaste.org).

The mission of ASTE is to promote excellence in science teacher education worldwide through scholarship and innovation. As a board member, she will chair a committee that helps conduct the work of the organization and will serve with other members of the board under the president to lead the organization.

Dr. Hagevik is currently serving as co-chair of the Annual International conference to be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, in January 2023.
