Undergraduate Gabby Downs received the John Bowley Derieux Research Award, 3rd place, in the Botany, Ecology and Environmental Science section, from the North Carolina Academy of Science (NCAS) last week. Her work was presented at the 115th Annual Meeting of the NCAS, which was held at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, NC, March 23-24, 2018.
Her poster was titled Biological Pesticide Application and Technology Utilizing Heterorhabditis bacteriophora and Steinernema carpocapsae, and her research was conducted in the UNCP lab of Len Holmes with the assistance of Devang Upadhyay.
Gabby is a senior double majoring in Chemistry and Biology.
