The CARE Resource Center supports the students on our campus through providing resources to increase their quality of life while on campus. These resources include food, and hygiene products. All items given to the CARE Resource Center go to benefit the students, faculty, staff, and community members that we serve. In Fall 2019, 54% of students surveyed at UNCP reported an inadequate food supply to support themselves or their household. Hunger on college campuses is a growing concern and can have an adverse impact on the success of students experiencing food insecurity.
The CARE Resource Center at UNC Pembroke is seeking your support as we continue our mission to end hunger in our community. We are a nonprofit food pantry for UNCP Students, faculty, staff and community members. Since opening in 2013, we have worked hard to help uplift and empower our community. The following are ways that we would love to have your support:
- Sponsor a shelf: Adopt a shelf at the CARE Resource Center to ensure students have greater access to necessary nutritional meals. Sponsors will provide donated materials periodically or a continuous monetary donation to the CARE Resource Center. All sponsors are recognized within the CARE Resource Center.
- Donate: We accept food and monetary donations. For every $1 donated, the CARE Resource Center can provide 9 meals to students, staff, faculty and community. All donations directly benefit the operations of the CARE Resource Center and programs focused on helping students overcome obstacles that may prevent success and persistence towards graduation. To donate
- Food donations can be dropped off at the CARE Resource Center during regular operating hours or by scheduling a donation drop-off by contacting the CARE Center staff at care@uncp.edu or 910-775-4367.
- Provide monetary support by visiting the UNCP Give Page. Under the Designation area, select Community and Civic Engagement--CARE Gifts. Each dollar raised will go towards purchasing more food and supplies. After you have made your gift, consider applifying your contribution by sharing our cause on your social media. Help us spread the message so that no one at UNC Pembroke will go without.
- Check out our Amazon Wish List - it's a list of our most needed items that we know students enjoy. You can purchase through Amazon and the items will be sent to the CARE Resource Center.
- Host a food drive: Organizations can raise nonperishable goods to be given to patrons of the CARE Resource Center.
- Volunteer: Help us sort food and stock our shelves by donating your time at the CARE Resource Center. For more information on volunteering, visit UNCP Serve.
