Purpose
The purpose of the Faculty Senate of The University of North Carolina
at Pembroke shall be to serve as the principal academic policy-making
body of the University, subject to review and approval by the Chancellor;
to serve as an advisory and consultative council to the Chancellor and
other administrators; and to receive from Senate Committees or University
Departments recommendations concerning policies of The University of
North Carolina at Pembroke upon which the Senate may deliberate and
act.
Membership
The Senate consists of the Chancellor of the University, the Provost
and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, three General Faculty members
from each of the Divisions of Arts, Education, Letters, Natural Sciences
and Mathematics, Social and Behavioral Sciences, and nine General Faculty
members elected at-large by the General Faculty.
Committee Structure
The Senate has three types of committees: Operations Committees
(Committee on Committees and Elections, Executive Committee, and Committee
on Faculty Governance), Standing Committees (Academic Affairs, Student
Affairs and Campus Life, Faculty and Institutional Affairs), Subcommittees
of the Standing Committees, and Continuing and Special Committees.
Meetings
The Senate
meets the first Wednesday of each month during the academic year.
