It is my sincere pleasure to introduce the faculty and academic programs of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

As the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, I am proud to let you know that you are considering one of the finest public universities for your education. Year after year, our students rate their educational experience and the dedication of the faculty at the very highest level.

The difference that you will find at UNC Pembroke is the emphasis placed by our faculty on high quality teaching and personal attention to the students' needs.

Unlike many other institutions that you might be considering, we do not have even one class in our curriculum taught by a graduate student. All courses are taught by professional faculty members. The faculty's personal attention, combined with the wide variety of undergraduate majors, minors, and concentrations and more than a dozen fine graduate degree programs, makes the ideal combination for a successful and rewarding educational experience. Additionally, we offer courses and programs at off-campus locations and on-line.

At UNC Pembroke, you will find all of the traditional liberal arts majors, such as English, mathematics, psychology, and criminal justice, to name a few. In addition, we have many professional degree programs, including business administration, nursing, public management, and both elementary and secondary education. All of these opportunities are available on a campus that is small-scale, friendly, and safe. We know that these are important factors to every one of our students and their families.

Best wishes on your important decision regarding your educational future. We look forward to the opportunity to serve you and your family for many years to come.

Dr. Charles F. Harrington
Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
