Enactus
Enactus is a community of student, academic and business leaders committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better more sustainable world. Students gain leadership and professional skills by getting involved in community activities that promote making a change and difference in the lives of individuals and groups with specific needs. Students are encouraged to develop these activities as a unified body of elected officers and members. Engagement activities include: every member actively participating in a leadership role; attending conferences and presenting the annual community project at CASE Competitions, workshops and seminars; collaborating with other departments and organizations on campus, volunteering in the community, and mentorship.

The Investment and Trading Club (Investra)
The Investment and Trading Club (Investra) is a recent addition to the UNCP student organization family. Our mission is to use practical experience to promote education, knowledge, and awareness of investing and trading concepts while using simulations, competitions, and industry standard software platforms to gain real world experience in selecting and analyzing investment opportunities.
Investra seeks to accomplish this mission by conducting research using platforms such as S&P Capital IQ, Morningstar, and Stock Trak, then using this research to analyze the investment opportunity, and to determine the best time to invest on the exchange. We offer training to our members on the importance of investing, how to analyze investments, and how to invest. Investra also strives to promote financial literacy among our membership and within the community.
The Investment and Trading Club is open to both undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at UNCP, and to students outside of the Thomas School of Business. We meet in person monthly in the trading room at the Thomas School of Business and offer remote participation through WebEx if a member is not able to attend in person.

Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)
SHRM is the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 250,000 members in over 140 countries (to include student members), the Society serves the needs of HR professionals and advances the interests of the HR profession. Founded in 1948, SHRM has more than 575 affiliated chapters within the United States and subsidiary offices in China and India.
The UNCP SHRM student chapter provides opportunities for students to network on the local level. SHRM has regular meetings with scheduled programs designed to help members learn more about HR and the real world of business.
Elected student officers run the chapters with the assistance of a chapter advisor and our sponsoring professional SHRM chapter FASHRM.
Beyond the regular meetings, the UNCP SHRM Student Chapter organizes a variety of activities including student conferences, professional development workshops, fundraisers, an annual community service project called Give2theTroops, and a variety of social events. These activities allow students to learn more about human resource management while building relationships with local professionals and other students.
More than 450 affiliated SHRM student chapters offer local activities on university campuses throughout the United States. National student membership in SHRM does not automatically constitute membership in your on-campus student chapter. Students should speak with their chapter advisor for more information.

International Business Students Club (IBSC)
The IBSC at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke Thomas School of Business is to provide international and American business students with a platform to foster academic excellence, multicultural interaction, lifelong friendship and professional network, deeper understanding of global business, and community engagement. Potential activities to reach these goals include, but are not limited to:
- Participating in regular club meetings during academic semesters.
- Launching fundraising events on and off-campus
- Participating in field studies, consulting, and research that is related to business topics
- Establishing collaborative relationships with other student organizations at domestic and international levels
- Engaging in local community service
- Attending invited presentations/seminars that are related to global business, international exchange programs for business students, and global career development
- Attending academic conferences under the guidance of faculty members at the School of Business
- Networking with domestic and international alumni

Econ-Finance Club
The Econ-Finance Club introduces students to current economic and financial events. Discussions and activities cover current economic and fiscal policies in the U.S. and the entire world, including the theories underlying these policies. The club also organizes field trips to support the mission of the club. Potential visits include the Federal Reserve Bank, business firms, Mercantile Exchange, and various conferences. The club also invites expert speakers in the field to share information that will advance the professional knowledge of the student.

Accounting Student Association (ASA)
The mission of the ASA is to provide an opportunity for members to expand their academic, professional and their social development through peer interaction, professional engagement, and community service. Our goal is to build unity by fostering lifelong friendships and networks extending beyond college. We aspire to continuous growth and improvement so that members can contribute effectively and ethically to society and to their professional environment.
Our goals are:
- To encourage a sense of ethical, social, and academic responsibility.
- To expose members to the professional accounting environment through club-oriented activities and interactions.
- To educate members about the opportunities provided by all sectors of the accounting industry.
- To provide book scholarships for UNCP accounting students
