Brittany Hunt - Whoz Ya People?

In this episode, author Brittany Hunt, reads her new children's book, "Whoz Ya People?" with illustrations by Bea Brayboy. Afterwards, Hunt discusses the meaning behind the phrase and answers questions about the books inspiration and her Lumbee heritage during the QnA.

About the author

Brittany Hunt is from Lumberton, NC.  She earned a Master’s of Social Work from UNC-Chapel Hill and a B.A. in Psychology from Duke University.  She is a Ph.D. student in Curriculum and Instruction at UNC Charlotte and plans to graduate in May 2021.  After graduation, she hopes to pursue teaching at a university in North Carolina.

About the illustrator

Bea Locklear Brayboy is a self-taught artist from North Carolina and a member of the Lumbee Tribe. She earned a B.A. in Spanish from the University of North Carolina Pembroke in 1972. She taught the language in North Carolina and South Carolina in the public schools during a career that spanned 36 years. 



She and her husband of 50 years, Ray, are enjoying retirement at their home in Myrtle Beach. She enjoys painting, drawing, cooking, and sewing. Currently, she designs and makes face masks.
