About

Stephen is a proud native of Robeson County, North Carolina.  A graduate of Lumberton High School, Stephen received his Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and then his Juris Doctor degree with Honors from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

Stephen is a full-time attorney in Lumberton and has taught legal classes as an adjunct professor at Robeson Community College and the University of North Carolina at Pembroke for a number of years.  Stephen routinely appears in a variety of courts and has obtained favorable decisions for his clients from the North Carolina Industrial Commission, North Carolina state courts, the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the North Carolina Supreme Court, the United States District Court of the Eastern District of North Carolina, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

Stephen has been honored to have been recognized as a "Rising Star" by Super Lawyers as well as a Legal Elite "Young Gun" by the magazine Business North Carolina.

Based upon his trial experience, peer review, significant continuing legal education classes, and a written examination, Stephen obtained recognition by the State Bar of North Carolina in 2017 as a Board-Certified Specialist in Workers’ Compensation Law.
