About

Sheila Harris has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) which she obtained from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP).  Prior to joining the faculty at UNCP, she started her career as a business counselor with the Small Business Technology & Development Center. There she assisted small businesses with developing plans to help them move into the next stage of their growth.

After receiving her MBA, Sheila taught in the public school system before starting her career as a College instructor at Southeastern Community College (SCC). While at SCC, she was the lead instructor for the Office Administration and Medical Office Administration programs.  During her time at SCC, she assisted in the development of realigning programs to better fit the needs of our industry partners.

Sheila Harris's experiences range from working with small businesses with 5 employees up to 250 employees. She has worked with government agencies throughout the southeast and as far as Mississippi. Sheila came to UNCP with real-life experiences of the challenges small businesses encounter on a daily basis. Her goal is to incorporate these experiences into the classroom to help students better understand what it is to be a small business owner.
