Sharon Bell is an associate professor in the Department of Accounting and Finance at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She joined the faculty in 1989. She has been licensed as a CPA in the State of NC for over twenty years. She also holds the Certified Management Accounting designation. Prior to her employment at UNCP she was on the faculty at Robeson Community College and held accounting positions with multiple businesses. Sharon is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the North Carolina Association of CPA’s (Sandhills Chapter), the American Accounting Association and the Institute of Management Accountants. She is active in the profession as a Financial Literacy Volunteer both for the AICPA and the NCACPA. Sharon is also active in the business community and frequently invites local CPAs to her classes to evaluate student presentations. She primarily teaches financial, managerial, and cost accounting courses. She is a recipient of the Bell South Foundation Award for Excellence in Academic Advising and two UNCP Teaching Awards. Her research interests include pedagogical methods that increase student learning and success. She serves on numerous university committees and as an advisor to the Accounting Student Association. Mrs. Bell received an undergraduate degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from Pembroke State University and the Master of Business Administration degree from Campbell University.
