Randall S. Jones is a life-long resident of Robeson County, North Carolina. He attended the Public Schools of Robeson County before obtaining a bachelor's degree in health, physical education and recreation with a minor in biology at Pembroke State University, now known as The University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP). He is a graduate of the Rural Utilities Economic Development Academy from the University of Oklahoma and the Management Intern Program from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. 

Mr. Jones began his career with the Public Schools of Robeson County as a teacher. He later joined Libby-Owens-Ford Glass Company in Laurinburg, North Carolina, as an Assistant Personnel Director, where he advanced to Personnel Director for eight years. Jones then joined Lumbee River Electric Membership Corporation (LREMC) for a career spanning 31 years, where he had the opportunity to supervise and manage nearly every department, later becoming the President and Chief Executive Officer of the organization.

Mr. Jones' philosophy as a leader in any organization maintains that one must be accessible and visible in and throughout the organization to show commitment to what goes on in the organization and community while receiving valuable input from those you serve. His record speaks for itself regarding his visibility and active involvement in his community. Currently, Jones serves on the UNC Health Southeastern’s Board of Trustees. He previously served as chairman of the UNCP Foundation Board and the Innovate NC Grant Committee with the Town of Pembroke, in conjunction with UNCP. He served on the Public Schools of Robeson County Board, is past president of the Southeastern Health Foundation Board, and an original member of the Board for the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina, Fayetteville Home Builders Association, Robeson County Home Owners Builders Association, and the Cape Fear Council Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America, among others. 

Mr. Jones is the son of the late Dr. English E. Jones and Mrs. Margaret S. Jones. Dr. English E. Jones served as president and later chancellor of Pembroke State College and Pembroke State University. Dr. Jones was the first American Indian president of a four-year institution in the United States. During his 17-year tenure, the institution experienced record growth.

Mr. Randall Jones is married to Dr. Diane Jones, who has also served UNCP in several professional capacities, including her most notable position as the vice chancellor for Student Affairs. Together, they have two children: Channing, economic development director for Robeson County and former vice president of Workforce Development and Continuing Education at Robeson Community College, and David, the co-owner of First Choice Insurance and Realty of Pembroke, NC. Mr. Randall Jones and his family are members of Calvary Way Baptist Church in Pembroke, where he serves as chair of the deacon board.
