About

Melissa Schaub has taught at UNCP since 2003. She teaches first-year writing, British literature, and women's literature. She has degrees in English literature from New College of Florida and the University of Wisconsin Madison. Her research focuses on literature by British women authors, particularly domestic, serial, and middlebrow novels. Dr. Schaub is the author of Performativity in Elizabeth Gaskell’s Shorter Fiction: A Case Study in the Uses of Theory (Palgrave, 2019); Middlebrow Feminism in Classic British Detective Fiction: The Female Gentleman (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013); and of journal articles on authors ranging from Charlotte Yonge to Charles Dickens.
