About

Melissa Schaub has taught at UNCP since 2003, focusing on first-year writing, British literature, and women's literature. She has degrees in English literature from New College of Florida and the University of Wisconsin Madison. Her research focuses on literature by British women authors, particularly domestic, serial, and middlebrow novels; she is the author of Middlebrow Feminism in Classic British Detective Fiction: The Female Gentleman (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013), of journal articles on authors ranging from Charlotte Yonge to Charles Dickens, and of a monograph on performativity in the fiction of Elizabeth Gaskell.
