About

Mark Gogal joined UNC Pembroke in September 2015, bringing more than two decades of progressive, global, and diverse experience in management and human resources. As Chief of Staff, he is responsible for the overall management of the Office of the Chancellor. Additionally, as the assistant secretary to the Board of Trustees, he works closely with the Board, planning and coordinating meetings and ensuring compliance with the Board’s by-laws and codes.

Prior to his role as chief of staff, Gogal served UNC Pembroke as the Interim vice chancellor for advancement and as a senior strategist focused on organization and leadership effectiveness. Before joining UNCP, he most recently served as the director of human resources at the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, where he managed a statewide human resources organization of more than 180 individuals supporting a statewide department workforce of more than 17,000 people. Prior roles include the global vice president of human resources for Sigma Electric Manufacturing Corporation and manager of human resources at Progress Energy and Interpath Communications.

Gogal’s work centers on his passion to help others develop to reach their full potential both professionally and personally. Throughout his career, he has conducted leadership and workforce training workshops and assisted organizations in developing and aligning key initiatives, practices, and policies.

Gogal was awarded a Bachelor of Business Administration from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. He then earned a Master of Business Administration degree from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC.
