Dr. Jane Baird is a Professor of Accounting in the School of Business at University of North Carolina – Pembroke. She received her PhD in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati after working several years in public accounting in both audit and tax positions.
Dr. Baird’s teaching interests include auditing, fraud examination, and financial accounting. Her research interests include business ethics and occupational fraud, with a particular interest in ways to encourage whistleblowing by individuals aware of fraud or unethical behaviors occurring in the workplace. She is also interested in pedagogical issues and writing teaching cases.
Her work has been published in refereed journals such as Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Accounting Education, and Journal of Forensic and Investigative Accounting. Dr. Baird is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
