Assistant Professor, Mass Communication
George had 23 years professional public relations and marketing experience with for-profit and not-for-profit organizations in the healthcare and insurance industries before coming to UNCP in Spring 2003. In addition, he was editor of weekly newspapers in Tennessee and Mississippi.
George is APR certified (Accredited in Public Relations) by the Public Relations Society of America.
George received awards for his works from the Mississippi Press Association, the Tennessee Society of Healthcare Public Relations, and the Mid-Ohio Valley Chapter of the American Marketing Association.
At UNCP, George teaches public relations and advertising courses, as well as mass communication core courses, and advises our chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA).
He previously was adjunct instructor at Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville Technical Community College, and the Duke University Certificate Program in Non-Profit Management. He conducted public relations workshops for Cross Country University of Nashville, a national provider of seminars and educational workshops for business and industry.
