Elise Dixon is the director of the Writing Center and teaches composition courses. She is a rhetoric and writing scholar with focuses on queer, cultural, and multimodal rhetorics as well as writing center studies. Much of her work is focused on how marginalized communities and organizations empower themselves through collaborative writing and making. Her most recent work has focused on the Lesbian Avengers, an activist organization most prevalent in the 1990s. Additionally, her work in writing centers is dedicated to better understanding the role discomfort can play in the center. Her scholarship has appeared in The Writing Lab NewsletterThe Peer Review Journal, and in multiple book chapters. She received her PhD from Michigan State University, her MA from Ohio University, and her BA from Whitworth University.
