About

Dr. Mohamed Djerdjouri earned a Master’s and a PhD in Operations Research from Case Western Reserve University (Ohio). He left the University of South Carolina Upstate, where he spent five years as the Dean of the Johnson College of Business and Economics, to join UNCP in July 2022. He worked at the State University of New York at Plattsburgh (SUNY) for eighteen years prior to that, during which time he served as chair of the department of management, information systems, and analytics. Furthermore, prior to this, he held the position of Associate Professor in the School of Commerce at Laurentian University in Ontario, Canada.

In addition, Dr. Djerdjouri worked for ROVER Technology Co., a leading logistics company in Philadelphia (USA), as a senior operations research analyst before entering academia. There, he developed mathematical models, algorithms, and information systems to improve logistics and distribution operations for large firms. Dr. Djerdjouri has extensive international experience. He teaches in the fields of operations research, operations management, statistics, information systems, and analytics. He has received the prestigious State University of New York Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching. Dr. Djerdjouri taught for two years during sabbaticals, one at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji and the other at the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. He has lived and worked in Canada, USA, Fiji Islands, Algeria, and the UAE.

Dr. Djerdjouri's research interests center on the practical applications of operations research models in business and industry, optimization, planning and scheduling for integrated production and distribution, and logistics. His research has been published in a number of peer-reviewed academic journals, such as Operations Research Letters, European Journal of Operational Research, Information Systems and Operational Research Journal, Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computers, Total Quality Management, Journal of Pure Mathematics, International Journal of Applied Decision Making, and Journal of Business and Accounting.
