About

Jane Haladay is a settler scholar and Professor of American Indian Studies who teaches Indigenous literatures and other Native Studies courses that incorporate service learning, writing enrichment, and international Indigenous travel study. Dr. Haladay has published a range of critical and creative work, including the collection Narratives of Educating for Sustainability in Unsustainable Environments (MSU Press 2017), co-edited with friend and UNCP colleague, Dr. Scott Hicks. Among other recognitions, she has received UNCP’s Excellence in Service-Learning Award (2016), the Outstanding Allyship Award from UNCP’s American Indian Heritage Center (2021), and the University of North Carolina Board of Governor’s Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching (2023). Dr. Haladay is also a poet, a gardener, a lover of books and good food, and a former high school English teacher. Her homeplace is California.
