About

Craig D. Shoulders, Ph.D., joined the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke after serving 22 years on the accounting faculty at Virginia Tech. He has also taught at Western Carolina University.

Dr. Shoulders has received the Cornelius E. Tierney/Ernst & Young Research Award from the Association of Government Accountants and has been recognized twice by the AICPA as an Outstanding Discussion Leader. He coauthored (with Robert J. Freeman, et al) several recent editions of PPC's Guide to Preparing Governmental Financial Statements and coauthors Governmental and Nonprofit Accounting: Theory and Practice, Pearson.

His articles have appeared in Issues in Accounting Education, the Journal of Accountancy, The CPA Journal, the Journal of Government Financial Management, Government Finance Review, and others.

Dr. Shoulders conducted a major research study for the GASB and coauthors a number of continuing professional education courses on governmental accounting and financial reporting.
