Major Ryan Ellis is the Assistant Professor of Military Science for UNC-Pembroke’s ROTC program. Major Ellis is a graduate from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2009 where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Science. He commissioned as a Field Artillery officer in the US Army via Officer Candidate School in 2011. His first duty station was Joint-Base Lewis McChord, WA where he was assigned to 2-17FA, 2BDE, 2ID as a Fire Support Officer supporting A-52IN in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom 2012-13. He also served as a Platoon Leader and Assistant Operations Officer while stationed there. After Washington, MAJ Ellis moved to Fort Hood, TX, now Fort Cavazos, where he was assigned to 3-16 FA, 2BDE, 1CAV. While stationed there, he performed as the Battalion S4 Logistics Coordinator, Battalion Fire Support Officer for 1-9 CAV, Battalion Fire Direction Officer and ended his time there by taking Command of Bravo Battery, 3-16 FA. While stationed at Fort Hood, he supported one rotational deployment to South Korea in support of the Korea Rotational Force 2017, and one rotational deployment to Poland in support of the European Deterrence Initiative 2019. After Command, MAJ Ellis was assigned as the Assistant Professor of Military Science at UNC-Pembroke’s ROTC program. MAJ Ellis’ military schools include, Officer Candidate School, Basic Officers Leadership Course, Joint Fires Observer course, Captain Career Course, and the Command and General Staff College.
