About

Dr. Carmen Calabrese is an executive, professor, and academic administrator, with substantial domestic and international experience. He was Executive Director of the “Thomas Family Center for Entrepreneurship,” and is an Associate Professor of Business at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. As Executive Director, he was responsible for implementing the mission of the “Thomas Family Center for Entrepreneurship,” which is dedicated to the advancement of entrepreneurship in Southeastern North Carolina through excellence in educational programs, research initiatives, technology transfer, and outreach efforts.

His international experience included as an executive officer of two Japanese companies, a Swedish company, and a German company. Markets served were primarily the automotive, electronic, and computer ones, with robotics and automation systems. The teaching activities have been related to: Marketing; Strategic Business Planning; Management & Organization; Operations Management; Advanced Manufacturing Systems; Process Engineering, Entrepreneurship and Business Strategy. Education includes a B.Sc. in Engineering from Drexel University; a MBA in Marketing/Management from Eastern Michigan University; and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
