UNCP Chancellor Search Committee - Communique from BOT Chairman Wiley Barrett
Dear Campus Community:
The UNC Pembroke Board of Trustees met today for its regularly scheduled meeting. Among the topics discussed was the search for a new chancellor. The Board was fully briefed on the UNC system process requirements, as set forth in The Code.
As a result of these discussions, the Board appointed a 19-person chancellor search committee. Rest assured that the committee will seek input from the campus and external community on the desired qualifications/attributes of the next chancellor. The committee will consider this input as it develops the leadership profile for the position. A search consultant will assist in the development of the applicant pool and help the search committee prepare a job description and institutional profile.
Ultimately, the full Board of Trustees will recommend finalists to President Ross. Thereafter, the president will submit his nomination to the UNC Board of Governors for consideration. It’s anticipated UNC Pembroke’s next chancellor will be named as early as May 2015, so that he or she can begin work July 1.
As you can imagine, there are a lot of moving parts in this important process. Accordingly, I have asked the search committee to maintain a website to keep you and the external community informed about the search process. You can keep up with the search process by visiting www.uncp.edu/chancellorsearch.
Wiley Barrett, Ed.D.
