Communique from Chairman Barrett - Chancellor Search: forums and surveys
Dear UNCP Faculty, Staff, Students & Friends:
I wanted to provide an update on the Chancellor Search Committee progress and encourage you to provide feedback to the Committee.
The Committee held its initial meeting on Nov. 25 to receive its charge from UNC System President Thomas Ross. I would encourage each of you to visit the video of President Ross’ comments to the Committee, which was uploaded to the Chancellor Search web-site immediately after the meeting.
The Committee heard presentations from three search firms and selected Academic Search Inc. to assist the over the next few months.
The Committee discussed in great detail confidentiality aspects of the search. Thereafter, the Committee voted unanimously to conduct a “confidential search,” which means the candidates/finalists will not be disclosed to any person other than those determined by the Committee. It is anticipated that, when appropriate, discussions with individuals outside of the committee may occur at some point in the selection process. When this occurs, those individuals will be required to execute confidentiality agreements.
I want to remind you of the three remaining Chancellor Search Public Forums. I encourage you to attend and provide the Committee with any comments/suggestions you have as they relate to characteristics of the new chancellor that you feel would best support the university's mission.
The Alumni and Community Forum will take place tonight (Monday) from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the UC Annex. Tuesday, Dec. 9 we will hold a Faculty/Staff Forum from 10-11:30 a.m. and an All Constituencies Forum from 1:30-3 p.m. in the UC Annex. All forums are open for anyone to attend.
You may, at any time, submit comments directly to the search committee at email@example.com if you were unable to attend or give feedback at the forums. You can also provide your thoughts about what UNCP should look for in its next chancellor via a survey on the Chancellor Search website, which should be available by late afternoon on Friday, Dec. 12.
