Communique from Chairman Barrett - Chancellor Search update
Dear UNCP Faculty, Staff, Students & Friends:
I would like to take this opportunity to provide a brief update on the chancellor search process.
The university is officially recruiting for UNC Pembroke’s next leader. Last week, the search committee reviewed and approved the Leadership Profile which highlights the desired qualifications and qualities for those interested and outlines some of the opportunities that await our next campus leader.
Over the next several weeks, our partners at Academic Search, Inc. will lead the efforts to recruit candidates. To supplement the personal recruiting strategy, the position has been or will be advertised in several publications, including: The Chronicle of Higher Education, Hispanic Outlook, Inside Higher Education, Journal of Blacks in Higher Education, Diverse Jobs, American Indian Science and Engineering Society, National Indian Education Association, Women in Higher Education,American Conference of Academic Deans, Indian Country Today and American Indian Higher Education Consortium.
As a reminder, the search committee has an ambitious timeline for the search process. We anticipate having candidates for the Board of Trustees to forward to President Ross, and subsequently the Board of Governors, by May. However, the search committee and Board of Trustees will not allow this timeline to diminish our obligation to seek out the best candidates for our campus.
I encourage you to review the Leadership Profile and urge good candidates you know to apply for this awesome opportunity. Confidential nominations, inquiries, and expressions of interest may be forwarded to:
