UPDATED: Sunday, January 23, 2022, at 2:30 p.m.:

The university will transition to Condition 1 (Reduced Operations), effective 2:30 p.m. today, January 23, until 6 a.m. Monday, January 24. Beginning at 6 a.m. tomorrow, normal campus operations will resume.

STUDENTS: All classes will resume as scheduled tomorrow, January 24, 2022. Mary Livermore Library will reopen tomorrow.

EMPLOYEES: The university will be operating on Condition 1 (Reduced Operations) beginning at 2:30 p.m. Sunday through 6 a.m. Monday, January 24. Under Condition 1, the university remains open, but certain non-mandatory operations may be reduced due to more limited staffing. Mandatory employees must report to or remain at work. All other employees have the option to report late, leave early, or not work at all; however, the employee is responsible for informing his/her supervisory chain in a timely manner of all such decisions. Employees must use available leave for any work time missed during a Condition 1 event. Please view the adverse weather policy for additional information.

We are aware conditions may vary greatly throughout our service region. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to continue reviewing local weather and road conditions to make well-informed choices about travel to ensure your own personal safety. For more information on winter weather in your area, please visit weather.gov. Travel conditions can be monitored at DriveNC.gov.

On-campus COVID-19 testing will be available today at the Courtyard Community Building from 6-8 p.m.  As a reminder, daily surveillance testing is open to all students, faculty and staff at the following location and times throughout the spring semester:

  • Pine Hall Multipurpose Room: Monday, Tuesday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1 p.m.- 4 p.m.
  • Cypress Multipurpose Room: Thursday, Friday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1 p.m.- 4 p.m.
  • Courtyard Community Building: Wednesday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1 p.m.- 4 p.m.; Sunday. 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

As we transition to normal operations beginning tomorrow at 6 a.m., the university does not anticipate the need to provide any further updates regarding this weather event.

UNC Pembroke is continuing to operate on Condition 2 (Suspended Operations) until further notice. The university will continue to closely monitor the weather and provide updates as conditions change.

Message from Chancellor Cummings—Thursday, January 20, 2022

BraveNation,

There is a strong possibility for our region to experience winter weather beginning Friday, January 21, including snow, sleet, and freezing rain. 

For the safety of our campus community, the university will be suspending operations beginning at 11 p.m. Thursday, January 20. Mary Livermore Library will close at 9 p.m., Thursday, January 20.

STUDENTS: All classes and campus activities on Friday, January 21, will be cancelled. Residence Halls will continue normal operations. Campus Dining will be operational in the University Center from 8 a.m.-10 a.m. for breakfast and 11 a.m.-8 p.m. for lunch and dinner if weather permits. All other dining options will be closed.

EMPLOYEES: The university will be operating on Condition 2 (Suspended Operations) beginning at 11 p.m. Thursday, January 20. Under Condition 2, the university remains open on a very limited basis, but has formally suspended all but mandatory operations due to minimal staffing levels. Employees designated or temporarily assigned as mandatory must report to work as directed; all other employees may not report to work or must leave the workplace when this status takes effect. Employees must use available leave for any work time missed during a Condition 2 event unless the supervisor authorized off-site work arrangements. Please view the adverse weather policy for additional information.
