Wingate economist to speak at UNCP

Dr. Peter Frank, dean and professor of Economics in the Porter B. Byrum School of Business at Wingate University, will speak at UNC Pembroke on September 18.

Frank is the first guest of the 2019-20 School of Business Distinguished Speaker Series. He will speak on the topic “The American Economy in the 21st Century: The Liberal Order and Economic Resiliency” in the UC annex from 3:45 p.m. to 5 p.m. A reception will follow.

In addition to providing strategic leadership in the School of Business, his teaching and research focuses on entrepreneurship and economic development, economic policy, and on the role of social entrepreneurship in development. His time as a Fulbright Scholar in 2012 at the Academy of Economic Studies in Chisinau, Moldova was instrumental in shaping his understanding of entrepreneurship and economic development.

Frank was recently named provost and vice president of Academic Affairs at Grove City College in Pennsylvania.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Grove City College, a master’s degree in economics from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a PhD in political economy from George Mason University.
